Leading a workshop on qualitative and qualitative research for Ministry of Health staff in Garowe, Somalia while working in Somalia, Somaliland and the Federated Puntland States on a project to learn about populations who are vulnerable to contracting HIV. In this brief tutorial, I try to share with viewers a range of the many things a medical anthropologist does to help students learn whether they would like to explore this field as a career.

Follow along as I lead students in Linguistic Anthropology at IUP in a class on the word “Dude” and an article by the same name written by Scott Riesling. Who knew referential and non-referential indexicality could be so interesting?!
